afi top 100

American Film Institute’s recommended Top 100 Movies of all time. Bolded are the ones I have seen. I’ve also only counted movies I’ve seen in their entirity. Which sort of eliminates some on this. I have a long way to go (33).

oscar frenzy

It is Oscar time (that cute little gold fella) and I again feel so behind. Where did all the time go and why haven’t I seen most of the nominated movies? Well, obviously, not all interest me. But even still, a lot of the ones I haven’t seen, I’ve wanted to see. You can create your own Oscar list using this ballot available on Oscar.com. Here is the list of nominations and what I’ve seen/not seen.

cucumber madness

I feel like there’s something between my toes, but I checked and there isn’t.* Today I worked on my spa cuisine column (I write for a trade publication) discussing cucumbers this month. Did you know that this tasty fruit is high in vitamins A and K, and potassium and dietary fiber, but low in calories—only four per ounce. Who knew right? Oh, and yes, cucumber is a member of the melon family similarly to squash and is a fruit due to the edibly fleshy seeds within.

imaginary heroes

I watched this Sigourney Weaver and Jeff Daniels flick. It was pretty interesting. One funny part was a scene at the dinner table where the dad (Daniels) asks the son (played by Emile Hirsch from The Girl Next Door) if he likes the band Nirvana. Both son and mom start laughing, which confuses the father. The mom replies, “Well, the lead singer committed suicide years ago. Where have you been?”
