We finally had a cicada visit out backyard. He sort of flew there by mistake but we welcomed him anyway. His little feet felt very strange on my hand. He only stayed a moment for a picture (no autographs, please) and then he flew away. That’s when it happened. There’s the guilt.

As he fluttered and flew to the neighbors yard, a robin swooped down and made him dinner. Literally. I feel like an accomplice. If I hadn’t insisted that he stay for a posed picture, maybe things would’ve turned out differently. Goodbye old friend! I’ll miss you so.
