Ordering just got easier with the new and improved ordering system from Starbucks. Skinny! your drink: nonfat, no whip and sugarfree syrup. Listen to all those words you never have to say again. I normally order a grande hazelnut nonfat no whip mocha. Now I can order a grande hazelnut skinny mocha. Two words less! Woohoo!

Although not everyone is loving the skinny thing. According to YumSugar, a barista wrote to the corporate office about how it was offensive. Read on and you discover that “skinny” has been around coffee shops for awhile. All this controversy just because it’s Starbucks. But I don’t care, I’ll embrace the skinny nation.

The coffee shop I worked at in college used “skinny” too, but that meant skim milk, not necessarily no whip (but not all drinks came with whipped cream) and it didn’t mean sugar-free. Interesting about the controversy though.
