I’ve finished another book this year: An Open Heart. I have a number of books on Buddhism and I’ve been meaning to read them. I started with this one because I wanted a simplified beginning to the practice. The book turned out not to be as simplified as I expected, but it was still a good read. It reviewed the general basics of Buddhism: karma, meditation, compassion.
I liked the short chapters, which made getting through the somewhat heavier aspects of the read a lot easier. The book also has a cool concept behind it. It’s based on a three-day series of teachings held by the Dalai Lama in New York City. I just wish I could’ve been there in person.

Oh the horror! I just found out that parent company SuperValu Inc. has decided to close all five Sunflower Market locations. With delicious corn and black bean salsa, Puppetmaster Syrrah/Malbec wine, eco-friendly cleaning supplies, and every Kashi product the line carries, who would want to see the closing of these doors.
If you’re a loyal SM patron, contact SuperValu and let them know how you’d like to continue your patronage at your favorite organic store. And tell your friends and family members to run to the store and buy everything on the shelves.
Even you don’t know Sunflower Market or you don’t even live in the area, email SuperValu anyways. If not for your own shopping enjoyment, for mine! Hey, girl’s gotta do what she can.
