what a pretty, little apron

Today I started a massive clean up of the apartment. I started in the back and worked my way toward the front. I’m talking linens, dusting on my hands and knees, sweeping, washing off shelves. I got my whole bedroom done, plus a bunch of laundry done yesterday. It felt so awesome that I continued today by moving into the living room. Litter, dusting, sweeping, beating out the carpet. I even sprayed all linens with Febreeze, giving the apartment that fresh smell.

who’s up for traveling?

With a whole day off ahead of me, I packed my time full of errands. I still had to ferret sit, so I cushioned that in the middle so the little guy wouldn’t be waiting too long between visits. I’ve been planning, and planning, and planning to get my passport. I finally decided today was the day. I was going to Walgreens to get the picture taken and going straight over to the post office to file the paperwork. Well, of course the timing of all this hit around lunch time. Yay! But I had knitting with me, so all was well. Until I got to the front of the line. The attendant called me up, I stated my reasons for being there, and I received the reply, “Oh, I don’t do passports.” Great. I’m so glad you get paid to work at the post office and you don’t do one of the services offered. So back to the front of the line I went because now I’m pissed. Knit, knit, knit. It’s amazing how fast my knitting gets when I get frustrated. Even the woman behind me in line commented on how fast I was going. Any faster, and smoke would’ve come off the needles. (Which would have been bad since I was using the Harmony dpns and that might have sparked and caught my wool on fire). Finally got the whole passport thing situated (I didn’t know they take you birth certificate!!).

day 2: physical therapy ensues

Today’s day was jam-packed with to-do’s. Starting the day off with some physical therapy, I quickly had to run off to work a little early. Work, work, work. And then I had to drive my mom to the airport around 4. Straight zip over to day two of physical therapy. I thought I’d have plenty of time between these two errands; enough even to run to Target. Yeah, no. That didn’t happen. No problem though; I have tomorrow off. After therapy I had to go ferret sit who needed some din-din. So off we go across town to do so. Traffic was awesome. Not! It was horrendous. But I did my duty and decided as a treat, I’d pick up some Cosi for dinner since I’d be getting home after 8 at this point and was too tired just thinking about whipping up dinner. THAT was delicious. Got home and actually relaxed. Yippee!

of lace and earth

I had missed it when it came on TV, and La Petite Tricoteuse loaned me the DVD. I’m spending some quality time knitting up my newest adventure, The Icarus Shawl in Lorna’s Laces Helen’s Lace Multi in Black Purl. I just started and realized I needed to order a big bag of stitch markers. THat worked out because I wanted to get the rest of the Harmony circular needle cable lengths to complete my set. I also threw in the pattern holder for good measure. Me working on lace for the first time is going to be one heck of a challenge.
