afi 100: butch cassidy and the sundance kid

I watched Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969) last night. Pretty decent performances by very young Robert Redford and Paul Newman but the plot was set in a Western and I just can’t get past that.

The film techniques were interesting, using different colored lenses to enhance certain scenes. Then a number of times a photo montage was used to fast forward time. It was sort of cheesy but also effective so I think it worked for the film.

voila! fini!

Mom’s Bespeckled Gray Socks (in Essential Ash Tweed) are complete! And with time to spare before the holidays! This is a first considering I’ve usually finished up her projects Christmas Eve. These are here first normal stockinette pair. (I used the Yarn Harlot’s basic sock recipe.) I’ve given her the Vintage Socks and Cheeky Ribbed Socks. I think she’ll like these a lot more as they are fairly plain and sturdy, and will match anything.

recently watched movies

The X-Files: I Want To Believe was OK. it was a little weird that Mulder and Scully were all of a sudden together. It also wasn’t up to its usual level of scary and suspense. The plot wasn’t as elaborate either. Too bad too because I was looking forward to it.

Also watched Horton Hears a Who! which was pretty cute. I’d been looking forward to watching it for some time and finally got around to seeing it. It was cute like other Dr. Seuss stories.
