resolution 2009: running with a plan
Starting this month, I’ll be working toward another one of my 2009 resolutions by starting my fitness regimen. I’ll be tracking my progress daily (but probably privately), and I’ll post a monthly update on how it’s going. This June, I want to participate in the Run for the Lincoln Park Zoo 5k again, which is a nice motivation.
Below is my proposed exercise regimen at least to get started. Since I still have problems with my knee, I’ll have to work up to this. Once I’m OK with this regimen, I’ll probably up the ante.
Monday — cardio, mix of elliptical, treadmill and bike (minimum 30 minutes)
Tuesday — strength exercises, focusing on knee strengthening and core work (30 minutes)
Wendesday — cardio, mix of elliptical, treadmill and bike (minimum 30 minutes)
Thursday — strength exercises, focusing on knee strengthening and core work (30 minutes)
Friday — cardio, mix of elliptical, treadmill and bike (minimum 30 minutes)
Saturday — yoga (30 minutes)
Sunday — brisk walk or bike ride
I started today with this plan, so I’ll have to eventually adjust to the Monday/Wednesday/Friday schedule. This is better because I can use the workout room at my office three days a week and then do other activities at home.
