stash knit down 2009—august update

This month some yarn was acquired that has affected the total remaining yardage. Two skeins are a gift, some is stash yarn that was never entered and two skeins were exchanged. I did, however, complete nine projects in the month of August. Very good progress and I’ve gained some ground on the Stash Knit Down challenge. I am now into September so I think I’ll be in good shape for the fall. Still much knitting is still to be done in 2009. Fifteen projects to be exact. Almost completed are seven sets of Snowmen Families—I’m almost done felting and will need to adorn them to complete. On the needles, I have a pair of Jaywalkers and two sets of dishcloths. I have Mermaid Gloves, an Owl Vest and two Baby Mobiles planned for the very near future. I haven’t even fully started on Christmas knitting projects, which will start soon.

stash knit down 2009: red jumper

This project all started simply because I wanted to use up all of my Cotton Ease. The Red Jumper turned into one of the cutest baby things I have knit in awhile. I am so pleased with how it turned out. I based this off of the Malia Mather’s Skull Jumper. I opted to omit the skulls but I look forward to knitting this again and actually including the skull pattern.

stash knit down 2009: purple neck cuff

The Purple Neck Cuff used up the last of my Cherry Tree Hill fun fur yarn. Hooray! That yarn has been haunting me for years, ever since I got it in this mystery bag of yarn and didn’t know what the heck to do with it. In the end, this and a scarf were created. I held the cuff together with a Knit Picks cable needle. I’ll get something decorative to go with this at some point. I don’t want to have to use a button so I hope I can find an alternative.

afi 100—the last picture show

This 1970s flick starred some soon-to-be heavy hitters: Jeff Bridges, Cybill Shepherd, Randy Quaid. This was very 1970s-esque in its film style. Although filmed in black and white, the plot explores teenage hormones and sex, growing up and the complexity of friendship. Although I can’t say that I particularly liked the film, I thought that the acting was really well executed. I’ll probably never watch this movie again, but it was better than some on the AFI 100 list.

stash knit down 2009: limey green crops

A family friend loved the crops I knit for my mom that she wanted a pair too. So another crop using the Pom Pom Peds pattern was made. The Limey Green Crops used Knit Picks Essential Multi in Turtle Multi. I used a little over .75 of the skein. As with the other crops, I opted not to add the actual pom pom.
