In true lusciousluka style, I put on a small, decorative spread for the holidays. M and I only had a couple over for the evening, but I always like to pull out my entertaining gloves and put on a nice presentation. Hey, I have the stuff, I might as well use it!
We rang in the new year with a game of Trivial Pursuit, homemade pizzas and appetizers, some champagne and watching really bad TV broadcasting. Nothing says, “Goodbye 2010,” like that!
Today I received a bouquet of flowers from M. He specifically picked out the winter bouquet, and was pretty impressed with himself on his choice. Apparently the other choices were no seasonally appropriate. I think he picked a good bunch!
This year’s Christmas featured a delicious ham that was the perfect excuse to make a delicious soup. I chose the White Bean & Ham soup from Wives with Knives.
The night before, I set the beans to soak.
The day of making, I first chopped up some ham. I didn’t have ham hocks so substituted the ham bits and the juices leftover from baking.
The ham went in the pot.
