Late update on the Stash Afghan. Not much work has been done on it, other than a row here and there. Until next month!

I finally finished up the Pink Dishcloths I’d been working on. I had wanted to use all of the remaining white and pink cotton I had on hand and so powered through the creation of eight dishcloths based off of the Double the Fun Dishcloth pattern.

They are double sided with one side featuring the pink and white waffle pattern and the other a solid pink. I’ll pull these out in the springtime.

My So-Called Scarf turned out pretty nice. I knit up two skeins of Manos del Uruguay Wool Clasica to make this scarf, which will match my Spring Beret. It took forever since I felt the pattern got a bit monotonous. What do you want from a scarf. Alas, it is done. So I look forward to wearing it this week.

Ethan was kind enough to pose during the shooting of the first progress report of the Stash Afghan. I plan do this on a monthly basis. We’ll call this the beginning of the month update, since I am a little behind in taking the pictures. I also had a ton of ends to weave in before the photoshoot.

Check out how long it is. Probably about the length of the closet doors if it weren’t for the needles pulling it in.

Here’s a close-up shot of the colors. At this point, I have knit 20 inches on the afghan. I almost done using the pieces from the original version and continue to add to the color queue. I’m still shooting for at least 90 inches in length so I’m about 20% complete. I just have to keep knitting away. I think once the smaller pieces are used, I can focus more on knitting and less on weaving in ends in the middle of the blanket. I’ll still have to deal with weaving in the ends on the blanket’s sides.

I did it! I set out to finish 52 projects in a year, I actually surpassed my own goal! In one year, I knit up 15,888.66 yards of yarn into 57 projects. Wow, that’s pretty amazing! If it weren’t for some miscalculations in my stash, gifts and some necessary purchases, my stash amount would look like it went down over the year. But because I miscalculated and missed several skeins of lace weight, it’s hard to guess really how much I had at the beginning of the year. In any event, I completed 57 projects this year! I still can’t believe. When I undertook this project, I was a little weary of how I would accomplish my goal. But thankfully, I kept up with finishing a project a week, and in most cases, stayed on track.

I knit up quite a few random skeins I had on hand, went through a large chunk of my cotton collection and made a number of baby items. I am very proud of my collection of items. I look forward to my 2010 goal, of which I will discuss later. For now, here’s a review of all of the projects I made in 2009 and a final rundown of yardage totals.

Starting yardage in 2009: 38,099
Yards used in December:
850.7
Total yards used in 2009: 15,888.66
Total remaining yardage: 32,402.8
FOs this month: 6
Total FOs in 2009: 57

Imagine these blocked. No, really. Imagine it. OK, now I feel better. Right now, these socks look like a big old mess. I really need to block them but I have never invested in sock blockers because there has never been a real need. Well, today is the day, my friend. I need me some sock blockers like snow needs water. It just has to happen. I need to take care of this pretty soon though, since this is a gift for a New Year’s baby.

Another set of dishcloths, this one named after the colorway: Midnight Magic Double the Fun Dishcloths. I gave these to my mom because she seems to like them!
