On our last day in Atlanta, we spent checking out some of the local shops. I picked up this cute necklace and the wallet/purse.

I also found this pretty dress for only $40! Good thing nothing else I found at the store fit quite right because I may have bought everything in sight, otherwise!

Chris almost found a hat for all of her Georgian events but decided against it.

We had dinner at The Orient Express where we had sushi. I had some really delicious things, including the Crispy Roll, which I’ll be having again. And then I was off on my plane back. It was a short, but fun, trip.

After a good night’s rest and an awesome breakfast, we headed off to Knitch, my only Atlanta requirement. I bought this yarn to make a remembrance item from the trip. I really wanted something locally dyed but apparently that just wasn’t in the cards. The store was really quite cute but had mostly major yarn companies in stock.

Then we were off to midtown to the Georgia Aquarium where we saw river otters, beluga whales and jellyfish.

Then it was off to the World of Coca-Cola. I have to say the Taste It section was my favorite part. I particularly liked a Stoney Tangawizi from Africa that tasted like real ginger soda. I didn’t even have any Coke there.

After that we headed to Mary Mac’s Tea Room, an establishment that has been open since 1945. Known for their fried chicken, I, of course, had their fried chicken along with a hurricane. It was all very delicious.

I arrived in Atlanta despite being confused for a terrorist when I tried to board the plane with conspicuous “dangerous” yogurt. That’s right, yogurt is apparently a liquid. Who knew? Chris picked Mike and I up at the airport and we enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and drinks before seeing some of the sights.

We first visited Pie in the Sky, where I got this lovely necklace. I love the little bird. It came on a black thread which just didn’t cut it, so I put it on a silver chain instead.

We then checked out Harry’s Farmer’s Market. It’s this really large store that Whole Foods actually owns now so it’s Whole Foods but BIGGER! I got some hazelnut flavored coffee that is delicious.

We then were off to dine at one of our favorite restaurants Stoney River. There just happened to be a location in Atlanta and none of us had been in years. Oh darn! I had my salmon with carmelized onion mashed potatoes and asparagus. Yum!

I saw The Secret LIfe of Bees with Laurie and the Petite Tricoteuse. It was super sad and maybe not the best movie to watch in our current states of mind but was deliciously good all the same. All-star cast, amazing story, all around good.

Earlier in the day, we rode over to Tweet for some brunch. It couldn’t have been more delicious. I got this egg burrito thing. SOooo good.

Later that day it was all in the Apple Pie I made the day before. So good. Heated up, with some ice cream, can’t be better. (I forgot to take pictures though.)

Today the SNBWB girls had a BBQ/Intarsia workshop. The weather was so awful and unpredictable, we were sequestered indoors. No matter, we still had a lot of fun. I made cupcakes and deviled eggs (both of which went like hot cakes). We had good food and great time with friends. The intarsia workshop got pushed to the end of the evening and I had to head back into the city. It’s a really long drive.

When I got back, I spent a lovely evening watching The Assassination of Jesse James and Planes, Trains & Automobiles. I was some what disappointed with the AJJ flick. It was really slow and was sort of hard to understand. Interesting story, but the speed didn’t work for me. PTA, of course, was hysterical. I LOVE that movie and was a better way to end the night. Otherwise, AJJ would have left a bad taste in my mouth.

D and I went on a fun dinner date to my favorite restaurant: Ben Pao! I love taking people to this restaurant, and this time was no different. We sample delicious, tasty drinks and had some really good eats. I had to order my current favorite: Seven Flavor Chicken. D got a cool spicy noodle dish and we shared the oh-so-scrumptious pot stickers. We didn’t have room for dessert, nor could we take our leftovers as we had plans to walk around the city. That was somewhat sad.

Looptopia was going on tonight too, so we set out to find it. Unfortunately, we never did find anything related to Looptopia except some crazy kids hopped up on something, screaming and carrying on. There was one transaction that really captured the vibe going on at the bean. This one lanky kid was hurrying past, only to turn around and scream at this girl, “Text me your name.” She replied, “I don’t have your number.” He hurried back toward her to make the phone number exchange, and quickly continued on his way. As he got a few feet away from said girl, she yells, “My name’s Veronica.” (Actually I don’t even remember what her name was. It isn’t important. It just goes to show that kids are stupid. The entire time it took for her to get his number so she could supposedly text him her name would have been plenty of time to say her flipping name!)

Continuing on with the evening’s event: Don’t you know after plenty of drinks and equal parts water, we’d have to pee. We searched and searched in vain to find a public restroom and came across McDonalds. After a quick drink purchase, we had both peed and gotten the heck out of dodge. We barely got home though, as the week’s exhaustion had set in. After dropping D off, I had just enough energy to park my car, make my way to my apartment and crash on the couch. And I didn’t even move to my bed to sleep.

I went to Rustik tonight. It was delicious. I had the tomato soup and grilled cheese and the stuffed chicken. Mmmmm, so delicious!
